2016 has been a semi-disappointing reading year for me so far, but I have read a few gems recently that I thought I'd share.

Lucy Robinson's books!

This is a new to me author that I just loved. Robinson is British and writes funny chick-lit/women's fiction. If you like Mhairi McFarlane or Bethany Chase, Robinson's stuff will float your boat. The Greatest Love Story of All Time, in particular, just got me right in the heart with it's charm and wit.

Who's That Girl? by Mhairi McFarlane

Speaking of Mhairi, I read and loved her latest--it just charmed me like all of her other books do.

Results May Vary by Bethany Chase

I really liked Chase's debut and her follow up is just as good, you guys.

Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Weich

I think Love & Gelato was a surprise bestseller for a lot of people and I saw a few folks say stuff akin to the Weich's success had something to do with her father's publishing success. And I think that kind of sucks (and is sort of mean, to be honest). Love & Gelato is the sort of book that I would have loved when I was a young teen and I think there's a lot here that young people will really like. Plus, the cover is cute as can be. As an adult, I had some niggles with it, but, man, I totally get the appeal. I'm glad we picked it up for book club.

What Happens Now by Jennifer Castle

Jennifer Castle continues to be one of the most underrated and under-appreciated YA writers out there. She just writes such solid, compelling stories with such strong, complex narrators. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who treats teen relationships with such nuance and respect without every skewing toward heavy-handedness.
