Recommended Reads On Sale
Hey y'all! I've been buried in work lately, hence no link roundups, but there are some awesome books I recommend on sale at the moment that I have to call your attention to.
Hope you find a good read or two for your long holiday weekend (in the U.S.).
Crazy Thing Called Love is my favorite of Molly O'Keefe's novels--and I do love them all. If you're looking for a rich narrative, complicated characters that challenge you and some of the best secondary characters you'll find in the romance genre, this is the book for you. Read my review here and buy it for a buck on Kindle ASAP. (Even if you think you don't like romance, you should give Molly's books a try--trust me!) You can also pick up a bundle of Molly's Crooked Creek series for $10.
Kim Derting's The Body Finder is one of my favorite mystery/paranormal YA series. I've had an ARC of the final novel for ages, and been saving it for a day when I need a read that's guaranteed to bring the awesome adventure. The first book is cheapo on Kindle at the moment at $1.99.
I just read Joshilyn Jackson's Gods in Alabama and kind of loved it. Even though the ending is a smidgen tidy, the way the story is crafted is rather brilliant and the southern tone of this novel is so respectful of the region in a way that's rather impressive. It's just $3 on Kindle right now.
At some point, I'm going to convince every CEFS reader to pick up Gabrielle Zevin's brilliant and different mob trilogy All These Things I've Done. I just read the last novel in the series and I can't say enough about how much I adore this story and its creativity. This was marketed as dystopian, but it's more a character study against a futuristic mafia-infused backdrop. You can snag the first book in paperback for $4.
No one was as surprised by how much I liked Tahereh Mafi's "dystomance" Shatter Me/Unravel Me as I was. If you've read the first book, the second is on sale for $2.99 in ebook form. I can't wait for the final book in the series!
If you haven't read Dennis Lehane's brilliant Mystic River, you need to get yourself right and fix that ASAP, especially since it's once again on sale for $2.99 for the ebook.
